The Advantages Of Door Frame Reinforcement

By Kathleen Schmidt

Security systems are becoming very popular as people try to make their home safer. Some people have even been known to go to the extent of getting a guard dog. There is several door frame reinforcement options that you can choose from. Using reinforcements is a good idea and it is a good idea to take time to look at the different choices that you have. The best system, of security for you will depend on the type and style of house that you have.

Deadbolt locks are probably one of the first things that you should look at when it comes to making your house more secure. These are a strong and high quality locking system which can be installed on all doors regardless of whether they are interior or exterior doors. These locks can even be used on garage doors therefore they are something worth looking at. These locks are fitted in addition to the built-in locks.

When ordering these locks opt for grade one level as these are the best ones to get. These locks feature five pins with a through piece of one inch. These locks do not have any screws on the outside therefore making it impossible for the them to be removed unless on the inside. The main benefit of these locks is that they can be seen from the outside but there is no key that can be used from outside therefore there is no way of opening them from the outside unless you actually damage the lock and this is not a very easy thing to do.

It is important to have doors and frames that are sturdy as these will help to keep to increase the security level on the property. It is all very good to use the best bolts and locks that you can get however if they are not strong then the security will still not be very good.

A solid core should be present in both the interior and external door. Doors are best when they are made from solid wood, fibreglass or even metal. If the door is strong but the frame could be better then you could just replace the frame and keep the door.

Grilles, grates and braces are other things that are worth considering when it comes to making the house more secure. Full length sliding or partial glass doors make look nice but they are not very secure and can be ideal entry point for a burglar.

When you are getting a new exterior entrance it is best to opt for a style which does not incorporate glass and if you are not going to get a new door then the glass could be replace with reinforced glass. Reinforced glass can be a bit safer and to make it more secure you could make use of a grill or grate on the outside of the glass.

The hinges on the door is another aspect that you should take time to look at. IF the hinges are broken or very worn then they will not be helping to make the property safer. If the hinges are not strong then they could be removed or they could simply kick it own to gain entry.
