A lot of people have taken such projects positively, but there are others who disregard such projects. Here are a couple of mistaken beliefs about Washington DC low income housing to acquaint with.

The idea that these properties bring along increased crimes. Since most people living in these places are low-income earners, do not guarantee that they have chances of engaging in crime. There are multiple efforts considered by these people to do away with crime in such neighborhoods. Besides, every parent would strive to create a crime-free environment to raise his or her kids.

Low-income homes drive down property values. A lot of investors believe that whenever low-income housing projects crop up in their neighborhood tend to lower the cost of their properties. However, the results are the complete opposite to such expectations since the sale of homes tend to go up after a successful project. A good investor would view these houses as an excellent investment to set up public establishments and amenities.

Affordable properties are in bad areas. Most of the affordable housing projects are in government properties. Most of these properties tend to be in strategic places close to public transportation and federal services. Besides, none of the investors would consider setting up such projects in areas with fewer chances of making returns. So, you will find several people preferring these neighborhoods due to the convenience they offer.

Affordable houses are the last resort to many people. This is one of the most confusing concepts that most people hold. They think that these residences work as the last places where people would settle in before they move to their homes due to affordability. The chances are that this sort of houses have a lot of admirers since they leave enough capital to cater to other personal needs after paying rent.

These housings are for a specific race. In most government housing residence, there are a lot of African Americans residing within them. However, this does not prove that they are for people of color. These projects are open to any citizen regardless of the race, and anyone can reside in them. A typical project would house people from a variety of races, and they would coexist most peacefully.

The housing burdens taxpayers in most cases. The government tends to rely on taxpayers money to build this type of house. Even so, it does not exempt those living within the homes since they have jobs and mortgages to pay similar to other citizens. The only difference is that they tend to get some subsidization from the government to consider their low income.

Affordable apartments provide poor services. Think it in this way, what kind of investor would decide to make something way below the expectations and expect a high demand? The same thing applies to affordable houses. They offer services similar to any other properties although at a subsidized amount. There is a constant supply of utilities in such residences making it comfortable to live.
