Hidden Wireless Security Cameras And How To Set Them Up

By David Smith

Security cameras are used when you want to know what is happening when you are not around your household or as additional form of security in commercial and industrial areas. These are usually hidden and not visible to the intended subject being filmed compared to the CCTV which is visible and sometimes comes with a warning. These can be built into different common household items such as television sets, clocks and smoke detectors.

AC power source is the most common source of powering up the cameras. Batteries are also another source that can be used by hidden wireless security cameras. This gives you flexibility on where to place it but must be regularly checked if it has run out of power or not.

Setting your device up properly is very important as well. You should consider the various factors when planning on where to place it. Testing the footage after setting it up will help you decide if you have placed it in somewhere you can fully take advantage of it.

The first factor to consider is lighting and its sources that might help or hinder the camera. When you will be primarily recording in the morning, take notice on how the sunlight shines through the window and face the camera away from it. This will make sure that you are not just capturing shadows of the subject.

During the night, the most common source of light are the light bulbs. Make sure the device is not facing towards it to avoid glare. If a source of light is not available during the night and the area is totally dark, a camera with night vision by using infrared can be used. The footage captured will not be clear like the images captured on an area with sufficient light.

Carefully consider your camera placement. Face it somewhere that most of the actions might take place like towards the door or a safe. Get to know the field of view of the camera and take advantage of it by placing it where it can make full use of it.

Take note of its memory capacity as well. Wireless cameras usually store their videos in SD cards and make certain it has enough space available to store them. If you want to store as much video as possible, then put your camera to the lowest resolution available and use an SD card with a large capacity.

Cameras with motion activation can be used to save on both memory and power usage. This type of cameras will only start recording whenever there is a presence felt on the room or area. Check the power and regularly and charge or erased recordings accordingly when you need to. This will help ensure that the device will be working properly when you really need it to.

Set your camera up according to the image quality you need. Used a higher resolution whenever you want to identify criminals or problematic customers. Low quality is enough if you just want to check on how your domestic helper or nanny is performing.
